Outside or Inside Christ

Outside of Christ, how people identify themselves will reflect their own feelings and desires. In Christ is different, for "you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:3). For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. "You have died" stands in sharp contrast to the world's "affirm yourself" standards. This is always the struggle. Yet it is necessary, for if we wish to save our lives (i.e., affirm self and deny Christ), we will lose life.

If we lose our lives for Him (i.e., die to self so that life is hidden with Christ), our lives will be saved. This paradox is basic to understanding who Christians are. Our identity is bound up in Christ, not in the false narratives of a self-centered world.
